Say What?!: The Wopsters' Wedding Vows Had An Intense Twist

Well that was unexpected.

Gucci Mane is officially a married mane! If you didn’t tune into The Mane Event, first of all, shame on you and second of all, you missed all the over-the-top wedding details, including their spin on vows. While there are plenty of takes on vows, you're probably most familiar with "I, ___, take you, ___, for my lawful wife/husband, to have and to hold from this day forward…” et cetera, et cetera. However, there are tons of other versions of these traditional Catholic vows. Plenty of couples these days even write their own, and while the Wopsters didn’t take that route, there was an interesting line in the vows they repeated back to Pastor Touré Roberts, who officiated the nuptials.

See if you can catch the line we’re talking about in Gucci’s vows:

“I, Radric Davis, am blessed today to receive you, Keyshia Ka’oir, as my wife, as my soul mate, my lover, my best friend and my lifetime partner. It’s an honor to love you, to serve you, to protect you and to create an environment that you will flourish in. I commit today in front of God and these witnesses, to love you with all my might, to render every other woman irrelevant to me and to always fight for this love.”

Nope, we’re not talking about the fact that Gucci’s real name is Radric Davis, although this might have been your first time finding this out (It’s OK! We get it. Gucci is way more catchy). We’re talking  about the part where Gucci had  to declare in front of the EVERYONE “to render every other woman irrelevant.” Of course, he’s getting married so obviously this comes with the territory, but that’s what makes the fact that this line made it into their wedding that much more spectacular. We love it and wouldn’t be surprised if brides everywhere started taking notes from Keyshia Ka’oir and having their man state for the record that they will “render every other woman irrelevant,” too.

What also seemed to resonate with folks was Pastor Touré Roberts’ profound speech on “inconvenient love,” which he said the Wopsters were the perfect example of. “[It’s] backroom, behind-the-scenes love. When you want to throw in the towel but you press on anyway. And inconvenient love is a love you got to fight for,” explained the pastor.

“Love that’ll make you grow up when you want to give up. It makes you pause and changes your perspective. It makes you bow out of some fights because they’re not worth it. Inconvenient love has deep roots, solid roots. So when a storm comes and shakes on the tree of your marriage, you can still stand because you’ve chosen to have inconvenient love.”

Now, go find you some #InconvenientLove.
