Popeyes may have retired its spicy chicken sandwich, but rest assured, you have options!

By now, you've heard the devastating news that after causing a ripple of hunger pains, puddles of drool, and a social media firestorm since its release date on Aug. 12 (worth roughly $23 million in free advertising), Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen has decided to call it quits and remove their coveted Spicy Chicken Sandwich from the menu!

Of course, those who didn’t get a taste of the spicy fried chicken sandwich served up on a buttered brioche bun with pickles are crushed they didn't get a bite.

While we still have hilarious Popeyes memes that we can continue to enjoy long after the crispy favorite fades to a just memory, we have to admit that we’re left searching for whose got next!?

  • Thanks to beauty influencer Bri Hall shouting out Roaming Rooster's chicken sandwich in an extremely viral tweet, native Ethiopian owner Michael Habtemariam told the Washington Post that he's sold about 5,000 sandwiches in a week!  

    So what’s causing all the craze? Known for their free-range, grain-fed poultry, the Black-owned restaurant offers five different types of crispy buttermilk fried chicken sandwiches to choose from: plain served with house-made vinaigrette slaw, Buffalo-style with blue cheese, smothered honey butter and cheddar, a bacon club, and Nashville hot with three different heat levels. Yum!
