Kenya Moore Reveals Why She Regrets Moving Forward With Marriage Without A Prenup: 'It Protects Both Parties'

The ‘RHOA’ star filed for divorce in May 2021 after 2 years of marriage.

Kenya Moore is looking forward to wrapping up her lengthy divorce with her estranged husband Marc Daly.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta star recently chatted with TMZ, and revealed she’s currently experiencing a roadblock. According to Kenya, they didn’t have a prenup and the lack of paperwork is making it hard to settle their divorce. She’s hopeful it will be settled by summer. “I feel confident that it’ll get resolved soon,” she shared.

FYI: Kenya Moore filed for divorce in May 2021 after 2 years of marriage. The couple share a child together, daughter Brooklyn.

While appearing on the Tamron Hall show on Monday (Jan. 9), Kenya became emotional while discussing what led to their separation just three days after appearing on the talk show as a family in 2019.

“We were having problems and there was always this hope that we could get over it. You know, that we can go to counseling and it could be better. Doing your show was like a highlight of our lives because it was the first time he was really supportive of me and our whole family was together,” Kenya explained. “When we got back to Atlanta, we did a filming for ‘Real Housewives’ and it was like this huge event that we had put a lot of energy into and it was a struggle just to work through our differences, even during the show.”

She continued, “I just felt like my voice was stifled a lot because I felt like I had to be a certain kind of person and wife to get along with him and his personality. And that's not what a marriage is about. [...] I protected him as much as I could. I protected our marriage as much as I could.”

When asked about why she broke her own rule of always signing a prenup, Kenya said that her estranged husband was reportedly adamant about not signing one.

“I always say prenup for everyone because it protects both parties. I used to date an agent—an NBA agent—and he would see all of these guys you know that made $100 million and then they get married and they always take it away. So he would always tell me, you know prenups protect you, he would show me the prenup. And I understood it. But when it came to my marriage, I said I want a prenup. He was adamant about not having one.”

She concluded, “I regret not having one because my divorce right now is taking over. It's still pending over two years now because we didn't have a prenup.”
