When asked about Russia, the permanent elephant in the room, the president claimed that all reporting on his relationship with Russia is a rouse. Although Mike Flynn resigned for not being forthright about his conversations with a Russian ambassador, Trump remains adamant that Flynn did nothing wrong and there's nothing to talk about when it comes to Russia. 

"Speaking for myself, I own nothing in Russia. I have no loans in Russia. I don’t have any deals in Russia. President Putin called me up very nicely to congratulate me on the win of the election. He then called me up extremely nicely to congratulate me on the inauguration, which was terrific. Russia is fake news. Russia — this is fake news put out by the media." 

According to Donald Trump, the last eight years have not resulted in a historically low crime rate, high consumer confidence rate, or a low unemployment rate. During the press conference, he said that when he came into office, the country was a disaster.

That's simply not true. 

It would not be a Trump press conference without him bringing up the fact that he won the election. This time, he claimed that he won the electoral college with the biggest margin since Ronald Regan. Then reporter Peter Alexander did some fact checking and told the president that his statement was untrue. Alexander then asked how Americans could trust what he says when he presents falsehoods.

His response: "I don't know, I was just given that information."

Who gave him that information? Why didn't he check it? Does he care about presenting false claims? We may never know. 

When the reporter asked Trump about anti-semitism that many fear is occurring in this country, the president said "that's not a fair question," and then told the reporter to sit down. Immediately after, he claimed that he was the least anti-semitic person ever. 

Yes, that just happened.
