Early on, the Rasta movement took on the colors red, green, and black, until later in the movement's history when the colors shifted to that of the Ethiopian flag, which were red, green, and yellow. Many artists, particularly Erykah Badu rocked these colors and clothing styles that represented the Rastafarian culture, and had a strong appreciation for the movement and its principles.

Erykah has always been unapolegetically bold and free in whatever style she chose to rock. But this particular look in her natural hair evolution made her stand out in a way not many other Black women had at that time. While most ladies were wearing weaves, wigs and longer natural styles - Erykah cut her hair all off without thinking twice. What a bold move!

Erykah loves her wraps! It's inheritantly apart of her style. Her headpieces were to not be competed with, she had that whole game on lock. Her wraps stood high on her head or even leaned back behind her back, either way it was her staple style!

In almost lock step with the time Pharrell started donning his hats, Erykah became the female guru for hatwear. The man behind Erykah's fashion forward hats is Tokyo-based stylist, Thom O’Brien who has a label called Bona Capello, slang for “good hat” in Polari.

Bohemian chic is the best way to describe Erykah Badu's red carpet styles. When she's getting dressed up for a fancy party or heading to a gala, Ms. Badu's eccentric style begins to take form.

Naturalistas are everyhwere, if you're not natural then you need to get down with the wave. Erykah Badu of course, always had the right idea, so she was with the TWA movement before it was one.
