Will Smith Spotted For First Time Since Oscars Debacle

Will Smith was spotted at a private airport in Mumbai, India on Saturday (April 23). It was his first appearance since his Oscars meltdown.

According to PEOPLE, Smith stopped and posed for pictures with fans and even one airport security guard. Though it’s not clear why Smith was in South Asia, he appeared in good spirits and was all smiles.

TMZ reported that paparazzi were aware of his arrival at the airport as he was making his way back to Los Angeles.

Smith, 53, hasn’t physically been spotted since March 27, when he approached comedian-host Chris Rock on the Oscars stage and slapped him for making a comment on his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald haircut.

After the tense moment, Smith returned to his seat and shouted, “keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth.”

Smith would go on to issue a social media apology to the Academy and even Rock. Rock’s mother, Rose Rock, recently stated in an interview that the apology sent by Smith’s people felt disingenuous and that Smith should’ve personally reached out to Chris. “Something like that is personal. You reach out,” she said.

Rock is withholding any urges to speak on the situation until he “gets paid.” On April 8, the 57-year-old comedian told a California audience that he will not speak on the night’s devastating occurrence until the right amount of money is offered up.

Smith resigned from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science and received a ten-year ban from all Academy-related events.
