That Time Nia Long Curved Prince

To be fair, she didn’t know it was him! But what happened in their next meeting was gag-worthy!

Nia Long Long Long Long Long! (Please sing it like the “The Jennifer Hudson Show” staff, in the style of Sisqo’s “Thong Song.”) The beloved “Love Jones” actress stopped by the Happy Place, so of course she did their signature spirit tunnel walk!

And when Long made her way to the couch, she was all smiles and juicy stories. One of those stories in particular was about the late legend Prince. Long gabbed with Hudson, “Did someone tell you about my Prince story?”

“No, but we want you to tell us about your Prince story,” J Hud replied.

Long started the tale, “I was at Roxbury back in the day and I had on my Kenneth Cole pumps.”

J Hud laughed and said, “You better know what you had on!”

“I know! I remember,” Long continued. “And so we’re walking out of the club and this guy tries to grab my hand, but you know I’m from Brooklyn, don’t be trying to grab…grabbing on me, touching on me!” The audience laughed at Nia’s Brooklyn around-the-way-girl attitude.

“So we get outside and my girlfriend goes, ‘Girl, you know that was Prince?’ And I was like, ‘Shut up!’” Nia and her friend decided to run back into the club, but by then, Prince was long gone. But not to worry, there’s a happy ending!

20 years later, Nia’s friend was giving her a birthday party and she invited Prince. Casual. “Oh my God, Prince is at my birthday party!” Long said she had this vision of being posted up in the club with Prince, but instead he wanted to talk about her hair all night. “He wanted to talk about my products and who did my hair!”

“I’ll take what I can get. It’s Prince!” Long laughed. “You want to talk about hair? We can talk about hair, makeup, skincare, whatever you want.

Long also shared that she’s the first Estée Lauder global ambassador for North America. That face deserves to be the face of beauty, makeup, skincare, and all the things Prince wanted to chat with Long about! Congratulations to Nia Long, who remains the It Girl.
