History Teacher Who Told Student She's Only Good for 'Sex and Babies' Resigns

The former "Teacher of the Year" should never have been teaching in the first place.

Cory Hunter, the teacher that called one of his students "the dumbest girl I have ever met," has resigned following the release of the damning audio recording of him berating his student Shaniaya Hunter after she asked him a question in class.

Shaniaya Hunter suffers from serious vision problems that often force her to frequently miss school. Her question to her teacher was an attempt to catch up on what she missed before an upcoming test.

Hunter responded by calling Shaniaya names, and saying, “You know what your purpose is gonna be? To have sex and have children because you’re never gonna be smart.” He continues to berate her throughout the four-minute audio recording on her school-issued iPad, and then released to Soundcloud and shared with media outlets.

The educator, who in 2013 was honored as "Teacher of the Year," goes on to make fun of the student's vision problem, telling her she should get married and change her last name so as not to confuse people that the two might be related. When one of the other students in class asked if Hunter and Shaniaya were "kin," Mr. Hunter relied, "No... s**** no!"

Shaniaya and her aunt told WSB-TV that this was not the first time Hunter berated students in class. "He would get up in class the first day and tell the students that if they didn't want to be talked about, then get out of his class," the said. Hunter resigned from his position at a school board meeting on Monday, and will likely be looking for a new career path altogether.
