Aaliyah will forever live in our hearts.

Over the weekend, fans from around the world celebrated the late R&B singer’s birthday with heartwarming tributes, custom visuals, and endearing social media posts.

Aaliyah’s family personally celebrated what would have been her 43rd birthday with a touching birthday tribute on Instagram. “Happy Birthday, baby girl! Today, we celebrate your life, legacy, and beautiful soul. You brought so much light and passion to everyone you met and everything you did. You remain forever in our hearts and minds,” read another IG post on the singer’s birthday (Jan. 16).

On Sunday, Aaliyah’s estate also announced its exciting collaboration with photographer Eric Johnson to create a wearable art collection to celebrate Aaliyah’s legacy in music and style.

“We initially decided to create wearable art over selling prints because we felt this would be something we could share with a younger audience who may not be art collectors,” Johnson wrote in a statement about the new apparel line. “When you look around, you see Aaliyah's inspiration over the current youth culture everywhere [...] I feel honored to have been a part of her story.”

The new collection of t-shirts and tanks features beautiful black-and-white photos of the star, who was sadly lost in 2001 at the age of 22. “When laying out the designs for this project we decided to leave the designs clean with no extra type or special effects, as this would be closer to the way we created the images - classic, beautiful, and straightforward,” Johnson further explained.
