T-Pain Demands Respect On His Legacy

He says, “2 platinum albums. 6 Grammies.”

It’d be hard to find an artist from the early 2000s who has been more influential than T-Pain. Admittedly, the rapper-singer has hit a rough patch, as he had to cancel his 1UP DLC Tour due to low ticket sales. For some, it was a sign that the rapper might’ve fallen off amidst a new wave of artists currently topping the charts.

  • Most recently, Smino, a rising rapper out of St. Louis, was tossed into the ring as the “next T-Pain,” which the “Z4L” MC was quick to shoot down on Twitter.

“[T-Pain] is our generation,” the blkswn rapper said in response to a now-deleted tweet.

  •  T-Pain decided to step into the chat himself to set the record straight and blow off some steam.

Wednesday evening, Oct. 29, the rapper tweeted, “Just because somebody has two songs YOU like does NOT mean they are “tHe NeW tPaIn. I been doing this s**t for way too long and done saved too many other artists careers and done had too many #1 records for a n*gga wit’ a hot single to be the new me. Chill bro’.”

  • Unfortunately, trolls swarmed in on his comments, taking cheap shots at him over his recent tour cancellation, which arguably could be a fumble by his team, and not his fault. One fan, sarcastically commented that the Florida legend needed to put that same energy towards saving his own career.

  • Instead of trading words, T-Pain let his receipts speak for themselves. “The fact that you even saw this tweet means I’m fine,” he responded. “And also, two platinum albums. Six Grammies. Writing for your new fave. I’m good, mama. Fact check.”

  • In case anyone else was doubting T-Pain’s legacy, other fans were also quick to remind detractors to not sleep on his catalogue.

One fan tweeted, “Do any of these new "artists" even have enough hits to make a playlist? I thought so!! [T-Pain] got BANGERS for days!"

‘Nuff said. Check out more fan reactions below
