Mya Announces New Single ‘ASAP’ Teasing A New Era

The R&B singer-songwriter is gearing up to release ‘ASAP,’ teasing the next chapter in her music.

Mýa has something new coming for the R&B lovers out there. The Grammy-winning artist just announced her upcoming single “ASAP,” set to drop January 30, and it signals that she’s ready to start another run.

It’s been a few years since her last full-length project, “T.K.O. (The Knock Out)” came out in 2018, but Mýa’s never disappeared. She’s stayed active, releasing singles like “Face to Face” and “Give It To You” in 2025, all while performing, collaborating, and continuing to run her independent label. Her consistency might not be loud, but it’s steady. She’s built a career around control, ownership, and knowing when to move, and that’s exactly what keeps her relevant.

The “Case of the Ex” singer’s independence has always been part of her story. After decades in music, she’s figured out how to navigate the business without losing her sound or her direction. “T.K.O.” reminded people what that looks like: amazing production, an open perspective, and writing that still carries emotion without trying to fit in to what's popping at the moment. “ASAP” looks like the next extension of that, another layer to her catalog that’s rooted in intention.

Before announcing the single, Mýa had one of those unexpected moments that showed just how seasoned she is as a performer. During the Chicago stop of Brandy and Monica’s “The Boy Is Mine" tour, she filled in last-minute for Muni Long, who had to sit the show out due to pneumonia. Mýa pulled it together in less than five hours without rehearsal, soundcheck, or a crew, and she handled business.

She later thanked fans on Instagram for the love and sent Muni her prayers, writing, “Had such a great time with you, Chicago,” and showing love to Brandy, Monica, and Coco Jones for sharing the stage. It was a small reminder of why Mýa’s work ethic and career deserve to be respected.
