The first week of 2023 has been a media firestorm from a Republican political circus in the House of Representatives to Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin fighting for his life. In case you missed it, we are bringing that week back.

  • Stephen “tWitch” Boss Has Been Laid To Rest

    Beloved dancer and producer Stephen “tWitch” Boss died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. According to PEOPLE, the 40-year-old was laid to rest at a small, private family funeral on Jan. 4. The dancer broke through in the entertainment industry in 2008 as a runner-up on So You Think You Can Dance. He got his big break when he was named the house DJ for The Ellen Degeneres Show in 2014 and remained on the show until it wrapped earlier this year. In 2020, he was named an executive producer.

  • Prayers Up For Damar Hamlin

    Buffalo Bills defensive back Damar Hamlin, 24, remains in critical condition after suffering a cardiac arrest during the NFL Monday Night Football game against the Cincinnati Bengals. The horrific moment was caught on camera when he collapsed on the field after a tackle. Many of the NFL players on the field fell to their knees, prayed, and consoled each other. Thankfully, according to a Jan. 6 statement from Ira Turner, his agent, Hamlin is now breathing on his own.

  • Rest in power Earth, Wind & Fire Drummer Fred White

    Fred White, a drummer for the legendary Earth, Wind & Fire, passed away at 67. Verdine White, the musician’s older brother and former bandmate, posted on Instagram on Jan. 1 about his sibling’s death, “Our family is saddened today with the loss of an amazing and talented family member, our beloved brother Frederick Eugene ‘Freddie’ White." Specific details surrounding White’s death were not made immediately clear. With Earth, Wind & Fire, White won six Grammys and was nominated a total of 13 times. In 2000, Earth, Wind & Fire was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Most recently, Fred White worked on Diana Ross’ 2021 album Thank You.

  • An Absolute Mess Among House Republicans

    Although the GOP won control over the House of Representatives, they have not been able to elect a speaker, which was expected to be California Republican Rep. Kevin McCarthy. For days, New York Democratic Rep. Hakeem Jeffries has received more votes than McCarthy as the GOP is drowning in internal conflicts. The last time the House failed to elect a speaker on the first ballot was in 1923. As of the morning of Jan. 6, a speaker was still not elected, which means a new Congress cannot be sworn-in, putting necessary legislation at a stand still.

  • Gangsta Boo Dies At 43

    Southern rap pioneer Gangsta Boo passed away at the age of 43, according to Fox 13 Memphis. Born Lola Mitchell, she was discovered dead on Jan. 1 at 4:00 p.m. local time. Her cause of death remains unknown. Gangsta Boo started her rap career when she was 14 and joined Three 6 Mafia two years later, staying as a member for six years. Enquiring Minds, Boo's 1998 solo debut, peaked at 15 on the Billboard Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums and 46 on the Billboard 200. Both Worlds *69, Boo's second album, peaked at eight on the R&B/Hip-Hop chart and 29 on the Billboard 200 in 2001. Her third and final album is 2003’s Enquiring Minds II: The Soap Opera.

  • Rapper Theophilus London Found Safe

    After disappearing for months, rapper Theophilus London has been found safe. His cousin, Mikhail Noel, wrote on Instagram, "We have found Theo. He is safe and well. At this time the family would love prayers and privacy. Thank you all!!!" He did not share any details on where London was found, where he had been or why he had not been in contact with his family, CBS News reports. However, according to a Dec. 28 Los Angeles Police Department news release, the Grammy-nominated rapper was last seen in the city’s Skid Row area in October.

  • TLC’s Chilli Is Booed Up

    TLC’s Chilli, 51, is reportedly dating 42-year-old Boy Meets World star, Matthew Lawrence. A rep for Chilli allegedly told TMZ that the “No Scrubs” singer is in “an exclusive relationship” with the actor. The media outlet reports that the pair officially became a couple just before Thanksgiving and spent the holidays together in Atlanta. They made it official on Instagram, see below.

  • T.J. Holmes and Marilee Fiebig Ending Their Marriage

    T.J. Holmes is officially ending his marriage to Marilee Fiebig nearly a month after the cheating scandal with his Good Morning America co-host Amy Robach. According to Fiebig’s attorney in a statement to PEOPLE, Holmes and Fiebig are seeking to “move their divorce forward privately, expeditiously, and as amicably as possible.” It’s unknown when or if Robach and Holmes will return to ABC, but the two have been publicly spotted together – even seen kissing.
