These groups offer a sense of community and safety while abroad, providing everything from itineraries to life-long friendships through the beauty of travel.

As summer winds down, many of us are still organizing our last-minute trips, looking for a weekend getaway, or even considering a vacation for next season. Planning can be daunting and complicated. However, these Black travel groups have made traveling that much easier.

  • Travel Divas

    Owned and founded by Shanterria Earley, The Travel Divas is a female-focused travel group aiming to provide unique travel experiences for Black women. Their mission statement is “to offer destinations and travel events that many women in our community would not imagine traveling to on their own.”

    They offer couples and friends trips with many destinations like Ghana, Colombia, Singapore, Dubai, Italy, Antigua, and much more. And look out—they are even planning a bucket-list trip to Antarctica in 2024!

  • Black & Abroad

    Since 2015, the travel and lifestyle company Black & Abroad, co-founded by Eric Martin and Kent Johnson, has worked to shape new ventures for the modern traveler. They provide trips, travel resources, and a network of Black adventure-seekers to “explore, embrace, empower” the overall African-American experience.

    Destinations include Kenya, South Africa, Senegal, and France, as well as international networking events and online information sessions to plan your next trip.

  • Black Girls Travel Too

    “Encouraging women of color to leave their backyards and live through travel,” reads their homepage. Black Girls Travel Too aims to grow and enrich Black women through travel. Founded by Danny Rivers Mitchell, this group provides a combination of vacations while prioritizing connection and comfort for members.

    The group uniquely offers “voluntourism” trips, where people can travel and support small non-profit organizations abroad, making a difference while on the getaway of their dreams.

  • Urban Events Global

    Urban Events Global focuses on Black professionals networking abroad while enjoying experiences for a lifetime. Founder Kevin Knight made it his mission to create a platform to foster relationships through bespoke events in a carefree setting abroad. Aside from domestic offerings, the group also offers adventurous international experiences, such as the one to Dubai scheduled for this November. It's an opportunity to meet like minded, new people and create lasting memories. 

  • Overton Travel
