Report: Raz B Coma Was a Hoax

Manager says story never came from his "official" rep.

After a weekend of prayers and concern for Raz B, he is reportedly doing well, but did not have to endure a coma, says his manager Elayne Rivers.

"The comments about Raz being in a coma did not come from his official representative," Rivers told CNN. News circulated that the B2K co-founder became comatose after a minor surgery for a busted lip that he got when attempting to break up a fight at one of his shows in China. Within days he reportedly recovered.

CNN identified Toy Jones as the person who originally sent the coma and recovery story to the media. She told CNN that she was hired by the family and believed it to be true.

His brother, who goes by the name Ricky Romance, apologized for helping to spread the false story. "I was unfortunately unable to contact my brother at the time [the news broke], and then panicked," Romance told CNN. "I then alerted as many people of this information hoping to gather facts ... Since the source that gave me this information was what I thought to be legitimately reliable I didn't question, I just believed. I apologize if I seem like I jumped to conclusions, but a coma is a serious situation and it was concerning my brother, whom is my best friend as well. I sincerely apologize for the confusion I caused if that is the case."

Earlier this year, Raz B signed with a Dutch label, Kameleon Music Group, and is recording a full-length album, his first since his 2007 solo debut, FIRE. is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music
