Sean Kingston Reportedly ‘In the Process of Being Released’ Following Guilty Verdict on Wire Fraud
Sean Kingston is reportedly out on a $100,000 bond after initially being unable to pay.
The Jamaican-American pop and R&B singer was reportedly held for several days, according to NBC News. Kingston, real name Kisean Anderson, was held at the Federal Detention Center in Miami after being found guilty of fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud last month. But as of Tuesday, April 15, Kingston’s lawyer, Zeljka Bozanic, confirmed that the vocalist is “in the process of getting released.”
Kingston, who was found guilty alongside his mother, Janice Turner, was ordered to post a surety bond of a home valued at $500,000 and $200,000 in cash. While the vocalist was placed on house arrest, Turner was taken into custody. The two were arrested during a house raid last May.
During the Broward County trial, which concluded with closing arguments on March 28 after beginning four days earlier, Kingston and Turner were accused of defrauding multiple luxury businesses for items exceeding $1 million. The mother and son were alleged to have illegally obtained a Cadillac Escalade, expensive jewelry and a 232-inch television.
Kingston and Turner are scheduled to be sentenced on July 11.
