DL Hughley Apologizes for Calling Columbus Short's Wife a 'Ho'

"My intent was not to quiet victims," says Hughley.

After angering fans — particularly women — for comments he made about Columbus Short's wife on the radio last week, D.L. Hughley is making a public apology. Hughley called the Scandal actor's wife, Tanee McCall-Short, a "thirsty ho" and a "b****" for exposing Short's abusive behavior to the public.

"I think that broad shouldn’t be telling all his business if she gonna take him to court," said Hughley. “This b**** was thirsty. The b***** was thirsty. What, she gonna go back to dancing? She gone f*** her money up?"

After realizing his comments were out of line, Hughley issued a statement today for basically accusing McCall-Short of lying. "In regards to Columbus Short’s legal issues, I jumped to a conclusion and blamed Tanee McCall-Short; and I’m sorry. My intent was not to quiet victims," he said.

"When I did speak of the topic on air, I repeatedly emphasized then, and as I do now, that anyone who is convicted of domestic violence should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law; and that is what I believe."

Short was ordered by a judge to completely vacate the couple's home and stay away from his estranged wife, but McCall-Short claims the actor "ransacked" their home while clearing out his belongings. According to TMZ, Tanee claims Short broke a door off its hinges, ripped off her bed sheets, left on a bunch of lights and made her fear for her safety and the safety of their 2-year-old daughter.
