Papoose Talks Remy Ma's Release

Brooklyn rapper says life has been "like heaven" since wife got out of prison.

Papoose is floating on Cloud 9 since Remy Ma was released from prison last week. In an interview with XXL, the 36-year-old Brooklyn rapper gushed about how life has been since his wife ended the six-year bid.

Remy's freedom was originally delayed a day, due to a phone violation. "Yeah, it was a minor setback, some kind of confusion. But it all got clarified the following day and she was able to regain her freedom," he pointed out. "It was just a big confusion over there. You know, Remy’s a celebrity, and sometimes people get overwhelmed with who she is, or the following she has, so they kind of fumbled the ball on the first day. But the second day, they got organized."

The paperwork issue was "frustrating" for Papoose, who had been planning a party for her return. "People came from all over to celebrate, and we was all there excited, and they pulled a trick on us," Papoose said. "It was frustrating, but I was in good spirits because I knew that this was the end, that there wouldn’t be a longer wait. I knew she was gonna get out within the next couple days, so I wasn’t too frustrated. I mean, I was annoyed by it, but I knew she was supposed to get out. Just watching through that six years she just did, six years of change, and knowing that her freedom was far down the line and years away; knowing that it was only days away was more of a relaxing feeling."

Things have changed of course. He and Remy are reunited, and living together for the first time as a married couple. Papoose couldn't be happier. "It's been fun man, It's been like heaven," he said.

Speaking on his wife's post-prison focus, Papoose said that Remy has "big plans" that he can't talk about. "She’s focused, she’s working hard," he assured. "Eventually we will [collaborate], but right now she’s focusing on what she has to do."

Remy's spent some time in the studio with DJ Khaled on her first night out of prison. The Bronx rappers has said that she'd like to collaborate with Nicki Minaj and Iggy Azalea. is your #1 source for Black celebrity news, photos, exclusive videos and all the latest in the world of hip hop and R&B music.
