Travis Scott Launches Initiative In Honor Of Astroworld Victims

The rapper donates $5 million to financially support his fans.

Travis Scott is attempting to make amends after the Astroworld tragedy with a new philanthropic effort.

In response to the victims affected by Astroworld Festival, Scott and his management formed Project HEAL, an initiative that provides financial support to communities who attend his concerts, USA Today reports.

Scott has already donated $5 million to his cause to kick things off.

“My team and I created Project HEAL to take much needed action towards supporting real solutions that make all events the safest spaces they can possibly be,” Scott wrote on Instagram. “I will always honor the victims of the Astroworld tragedy who remain in my heart forever.

One million dollars will go towards HBCU scholarships, specifically through his Waymon Webster Scholarship Fund, free mental health resources, a creative design education program, and it will be invested into tech-savvy safety solutions for events.

Project HEAL is estimated to help at least 100 senior students with a 3.5 GPA or higher.

"Over the past few months I’ve been taking the time and space to grieve, reflect and do my part to heal my community," the Instagram post continues. "Most importantly, I want to use my resources and platform moving forward towards actionable change. This will be a lifelong journey for me and my family."

As BET previously reported, 10 people tragically died in the Nov. 2021 event, with Scott and Live Nation receiving legal blowback.

At least 387 out of the nearly 2,800 alleged victims are represented and are having their cases handled by one judge for all pre-trial proceedings, according to the Texas Judicial Panel On Multidistrict Litigation.
