April Fools: Remembering The Fakest Of Fake News Stories In The Age Of Trump

Inauguration crowd sizes? Obama wiretapping? We recap the fakest ones.

The Donald Trump presidency has so far been the fake news shitshow we expected since tragically learning of his electoral victory last October.

  • So many lies and fabrications have so far penetrated public discourse. So far, it's even turned Trump's supporters away from him.

In honor of April Fool's Day, we've compiled some of the best fake news stories surrounding the Trump presidency.

    Follow along below.

  • Obama Wiretapping

Donald Trump made the claim that Barack Obama wiretapped his Trump Tower office during the campaign. No proof of any espionage has ever been provided by The Donald or anyone. Originally, the fake news story came from Alt-Right website, Breitbart News.

  • Orlando "Pizzagate"

Pizzagate is a debunked conspiracy theory that originated via fake emails from former DNC operative John Podesta's private server. They supposedly referred to human trafficking going on at a number of restaurants in the United States headed members of the Democratic Party. It resulted in a man running into an Orlando pizza restraunt (which was one of the suspected locations) and shooting the ceiling, and of course, finding NOTHING incriminating.

  • I have the biggest crowds

Donald Trump and his press secretary Sean Spicer claimed that Trump's innaguration was the most attended in U.S. history. Problem is, there was photography of the crowds at his and recent competators. It wasn't even close.

  • millions of people are voting illegally

Nah. There aren't. Still waiting on the proof or evidence of that too.

  • "Drain The swamp!"

During the campaign, Donald Trump promised he would drain his cabinet of Washington insiders and lobbyists. Instead, he filled it out with billionaires like Betsy DeVos and long-time GOP congressional members like Jeff Sessions. FAKE NEWS!

  • Trump: I Have A "Plan To Defeat ISIS Within 30 Days"

It's been 74 days and we're still waiting...

  • "Lock Her Up"

Yeah, even he admitted this one was bullshit. Trump promised on the campaign trail to prosecute and "lock up" Hillary Clinton after the election.

Looks like the one who may get locked up is Trump if Russia has anything to say about it.

  • "who knew healthcare could be so complicated"

    Answer: Everyone.

Trump later found that out when his health care bill, the American Health Care Act, didn't even make it to the House of Representatives for a vote.
