Alicia Keys, Eminem And More To Perform At BET Awards

Alicia Keys will help bring the "sangin'" back to the BET Awards. With a heavy rap presence already announced this year, the 2010 BET Awards is balancing itself out with some recent names that have been added to the lineup.

I'm really glad to inject some R&B sangin' into the show," President of Music Programming Stephen Hill tells BET.com. "I've been reading twitter and paying attention to the BET.com message boards and I've noticed the comments saying the show has been leaning more towards hip-hop, so we're glad to have some great R&B voices this year.

One of those voices is both a former BET Awards honoree as well as the recipient of the 2009 Humanitarian Award. Alicia Keys has just been added to the lineup of heavyweights who will take the stage at the show.

This has been a great year for Alicia Keys," he tells BET.com. "She's had a stunning album and has a number one single. The last time, she came with En Vogue, TLC and SWV, and this year she's keeping quiet about what to expect.

There will also be an Alicia Keys career retrospective that will highligher her ten years in the business. "Alicia's career mirrors the length of the BET Awards. It's our 10th anniversary and she's been around for 10 years, and we are making a note of that.

Another strong R&B performance is sure to come from Usher, who is nominated for Best Male R&B Artist. T-Pain will also be among the R&B stars set to take the stage.

In addition to Keys, Usher and T-Pain, there's another big name added to the already star-studded lineup. This one, however, will not be singing. Eminem will help to balance things out with a dose of true hip-hop. Hill notes, "Eminem is going to bring the intensity that he always does. All these previews of his new album have indicated that he is back on fire and we expect him to bring that fire to the BET stage.

Em will join fellow rap artists Kanye West, T.I., Ludacris, Drake and Nicki Minaj, who were previously announced as performers.

BET Awards '10 will be hosted by Queen Latifah. John Legend will be honored with the Humanitarian Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award will be presented to musician and cultural icon Prince.

Don't miss these spectacular performances when the show airs live on Sunday, June 27 at 8 p.m. (ET) from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, California.
