Domestic Violence Charges Dropped Against Don Omar

Vocalist's ex-girlfriend refused to show up to court, forcing the judge to dismiss the charges.

Puerto Rican reggaeton artist William Omar Landron, better know by his stage name Don Omar, is now a free man as domestic violence charges against him have been dropped.

According to Billboard, Omar, 36, was arrested in September after his 26-year-old ex-girlfriend reported him for domestic abuse. She claimed that he hit her and threatened her with a gun. He was eventually charged with two counts of threatening a person and two counts of weapons violation.

Following his arrest, his ex-girfriend declined to attend any of the court hearings and later posted to her Facebook account that she did not wish to pursue the case any longer, reports the publication.

Due to her lack of cooperation, the judge granted a request to dismiss the charges against the "Zumba" singer/rapper Monday (Nov. 17). The judge did say, however, that prosecutors could submit charges again if she changes her mind later on.

Omar did not speak to reporters as he left the hearing.
