On Friday, Michelle Obama spoke to high school counselors and delivered her final address as first lady
“I want our young people to know that they matter, that they belong, so don’t be afraid. You hear me? Young people, don’t be afraid. Be focused, be determined, be hopeful, be empowered,” she told the room full of school counselors. “Lead by example with hope, never fear, and know that I will be with you, rooting for you and working to support you for the rest of my life.”
As the first lady tearfully concluded her remarks, she thanked everyone for the honor it has been to serve us.
“I want to close today by simply saying thank you,” she said, holding back tears. “Being your first lady has been the greatest honor of my life, and I hope I’ve made you proud.”
After a part of speech was posted online, many agreed that she did way more than make us proud
Even non-democrats could not help but become emotional by the power of her words
Which in turn inspired a long thread of compliments directed towards the first lady
First Lady Michelle Obama, your class, style, and grace will be missed more than words can describe
