Apple Is Finally Rolling Out More Diverse Emoji Characters

Apple will finally be rolling out a more diverse set of emoji characters in an forthcoming software update.

Apple will finally roll out a more diverse set of emoji characters in a forthcoming software update, according to Mac Rumors. The new set will come in six different colors, ranging from yellow to dark brown, and will be more reflective of our diverse world.

Last March, Apple executives announced that they were working with Unicode Consortium to deliver the upgrade. On top of the new skin tones, Apple added characters of families with same-sex couples so that all family structures in today's society are included.

Additionally, new flags will be added to the collection for 32 countries, including South Africa, Canada and India.
The new emojis are set to come with the updates OS X 10.10.3 and iOS 8.3 in the coming days.
Meanwhile, a lack of Black emojis inspired young entrepreneurs Ewart Brown III and Donovan Brown to develop their own collection of characters called WeMojis that will roll out in March, according to a KarmaJonezKnows.com. WeMojis will include characters such as "Black Jesus," "Soul "Sistah"" and the Bermudian Flag.
