Jeb Bush Finally Takes That L and Drops Out of Presidential Race

Trump's rise continues with decisive South Carolina win.

The results of the South Carolina Republican primary have been announced, with Donald Trump taking the win with 33 percent of the vote, beating out Marco Rubio and Ted Cruz by over 10 percent. Jeb Bush came in with a measly 8.1 percent of the vote which resulted in the former Florida Governor suspending his presidential campaign.

Trump’s win, following his victory in New Hampshire and his second place finish in the Iowa caucuses, gives the former reality television star a clear lead, and a burst of momentum heading in Nevada’s Republican caucuses and the following SuperTuesday on March 1.  In his victory speech Trump said, “I want to begin by thanking the people of South Carolina. He continued, “This is a special night.”

Trump tweeted out a surprisingly humble statement before the final vote, and his victory, was announced.

Far away from the victory podium, Jeb Bush announced that he is suspending his campaign for the Republican nomination. “The people of Iowa and New Hampshire and South Carolina have spoken and I really respect their decision, so I am suspending my campaign,” Bush said, before being overwhelmed by emotion.

Bush lauded himself for being the only candidate to stand up to Trump, and in turn was bullied relentlessly by the frontrunner for lacking enthusiasm and spending tens of millions on a failing campaign.

With Bush out of the race, all eyes are on Cruz or Rubio to stall Trump's seemingly unstoppable momentum.
