School Board Member Keeps Job After Posting Racist Fake Memes Calling Michelle Obama A ‘Disgrace’

Donna Pike said if not supporting kneeling NFL players makes her a racist, “then so be it.”

A member of the Jefferson County School Board in Alabama is facing intense criticism after not resigning for posting racist and offensive memes to her personal Facebook page.

School board member Donna Pike was confronted by Birmingham activist Carlos Chaverst at a meeting on Tuesday, reported AL.com.

At the meeting, Chaverst showed the rest of the board members racist memes about Valeria Jarrett, memes supporting Roseanna Barr — who referred to Jarrett as an "ape" on Twitter — and a fake image of Michelle Obama not saluting U.S. troops.

In the meeting, Pike not only admitted to sharing the memes, but she doubled down on her intolerant views.

"I shared it, and I'm not sorry I did, and I meant it because it shows hypocrisy in our country. Some people can get away with it and some people can't. It was not racist," Pike said.

Pike also admitted to sharing a meme of a fake image of former first lady Michelle Obama not placing her hand over her heart on Veteran's Day.

"I have a disabled veteran that's a daughter, and I have a son that's a veteran," Pike said. "And for [Michelle Obama] not to salute the flag, if you'll look at the picture, was offensive to me. Now will I apologize for that? Never. Never."

In 2014, Snopes proved the meme was compiled of false image.

"How dare her sit there and not salute our flag when she was the former first lady," Pike continued.

"I'll tell you another thing, I'm not watching the NFL because I don't appreciate people kneeling instead of saluting our flag. Let me just go ahead and get that out there," she said. "And if that's racist, then so be it."

On Wednesday, Pike apologized for the Facebook posts and removed them from her page.

"I didn't realize they would be perceived as they are," she told WVTM 13.

Pike told WVTM 13 she has no plans to resign.
