The festival returns to Philadelphia on May 30.

Ahead of the 2020 Roots Picnic in Philadelphia, Live Nation Urban and The Roots have unveiled the forthcoming festival’s official lineup via Twitter on Tuesday (Feb. 11).

  • Alongside them, other acts including R&B singer Snoh Aalegra, Afrobeat sensation Burna Boy, TDE’s resident R&B crooner SiR and Phony Ppl among others are also set to take the stage. There will also be a specially curated R&B tribute, “The Roots Present Soul,” that will feature appearances from neo-soul icon Musiq Soulchild, R&B legends  SWV and R&B princess Brandy. Separately, the group’s frontman Black Thought will separately co-present a live mixtape alongside Ghostface and Raekwon of the legendary Wu-Tang Clan and the Shady Records trifecta Griselda.

The entire festival will take place on May 30. Additionally, the festival will bring back its live podcast recordings with guests such as Around the Way Curls, The Read, Questlove Supreme and renowned hip-hop journalist Elliott Wilson’s CRWN.

  • “Always a highlight of the year, The Roots Picnic continues to grow and solidify itself as a cornerstone of Philadelphia culture,” Roots manager and Live Nation Urban President Shawn Gee said in a statement obtained by the Rolling Stone. “This year we are presenting a few special collaborative sets, one specifically with the Roots celebrating R&B music, with some legendary artists. Personally, I am excited that Meek Mill will grace the Roots Picnic stage this year, as this is the only major event in our hometown that he hasn’t played yet. We are also excited to be back at the Mann Center in Fairmount Park and looking forward to another great year.”

General admission starts at as low as $69.50 and goes up to $89.50. VIP tickets are listed at $350 at the website. Interested fans can also cop tickets through a presale launched on Tuesday (Feb. 11), which has been outlined on the website as well.

Per the flyer announcement on Twitter, tickets go on sale this coming Friday (Feb. 14) and will be available for purchase at the event’s official website, rootspicnic.com.
