Lauryn Hill Drops 'A Cradle in Bethlehem'
Despite how much the world longs for the Grammy-winning raptress that is Lauryn Hill, she continues to take us to church instead.
In step with the holiday weekend, she dropped "A Cradle in Bethlehem," another stripped down track raw with seasoned vocals and The Spirit. The kind of soul that was delivered before hip hop, and even before jazz. The rebellious Black music that was not felt in the lyrics, or notes, but in the silence after the song.
"While wise men follow through the dark/ A star that beckons them/ A mother tonight is rocking/ A cradle in Bethlehem," she sings.
And maybe, if we're much nicer than naughty, she'll add a "m***erf***er" so the ignorant ones hear her.
