Kamala Harris Endorses Jasmine Crockett
Former Vice President Kamala Harris is jumping back into the campaign spotlight but this time it’s with a major endorsement. Harris is officially throwing her support behind Rep. Jasmine Crockett in a tense Democratic Senate primary that could reshape control of the chamber in 2026. Harris cut robocalls for Crockett as early voting wrapped, giving the Dallas congresswoman a late boost in against state Rep. James Talarico.
“Texas has the chance to send a fighter like Jasmine Crockett to the United States Senate,” says Harris in the robocall. “Jasmine has the experience and record to hold Donald Trump and his billionaire cronies accountable.”
NBC News reports that the endorsement involves two robocalls, including one on Friday (above) and another ahead of Tuesday's primary.
Harris and Crockett aren’t strangers. Crockett co-chaired Harris’ 2024 presidential bid, spoke at the Democratic National Convention that year and has described Harris as a mentor she leaned on before deciding to jump into the Senate race. After mostly sitting out major primaries since her 2024 run, some critics feel this latest move also functions as a test to see whether Democratic voters still support Harris. Especially when it comes to young Black and brown voters who powered both women’s rise.
Beyond Texas, Harris has also shown public support for a small circle of allies, including New Orleans Mayor Helena Moreno and Massachusetts congressional hopeful Dan Koh, signaling that just because she’s not running, it doesn’t mean she’s out of the race.
Harris has also kept the door cracked on her own future runs even after bypassing California’s 2026 governor’s race, using a recent book tour to remind voters she’s not done with politics yet.
