Chris Rock Texts Druski 'Best Host Ever' After 2026 BET Awards

‘You officially retired me,’ Rock told Druski after watching his hosting debut on Culture’s Biggest Night.

Druski is getting his flowers from a comedy legend after hosting the 2026 BET Awards for the first time. Following Sunday's ceremony, the 31-year-old comedian shared a screenshot to his Instagram Story of a text from comedic legend Chris Rock, who hosted the show back in 2014.

"Hey incredible. Best host ever. You officially retired me. Hats off your the best," Rock's message read. Druski added a mindblown emoji above it.

The praise came after a night of offbeat humor from Druski, who marked the show's 25th anniversary by opening with his viral megachurch pastor character, complete with an over-the-top church service. He also joked about Stevie Wonder's reported fortune, displaying the figure in what he claimed was Braille, and spoofed Jay-Z's recent Roots Picnic freestyles with intentionally absurd rhymes and exaggerated punchlines…and an afro.

Druski is known for his comedic skits that always seem to take it there, while being completely ridiculous, yet spot-on. This is the vibe he brought to Culture’s Biggest Stage and the energy that Rock claimed made him the “best host ever.”

Later in the show, Druski even brought his "Coulda Been Records" auditions bit to the stage, bringing out a string of eccentric contestants, which is what his parody reality show competition is known for. The "contestants" included a self-described "gangster" with a BBL, a white contestant (Saint Harison) turned away for not being Black, and memeable singer Durand Bernarr.

He also took a jab at Ray J, who had caused a stir on the red carpet earlier that day, referencing the singer's recent hospitalization for pneumonia and heart pain. "Why you lie to us, man? I thought you was gon' be dead," Druski told him. "I'mma get away from you, man. Ray J, you know that's wrong, man. You lied to all of us! I was praying for you and everything. We was rooting for you!"

And perhaps one of the best jokes of the evening was when the consummate host, Keke Palmer, took the mic from Druski and proclaimed this should have been her gig. But according to Rock, BET picked the right man for the job.
