Talk Show Host Tamron Hall Debuts Court TV Show, ‘Someone They Knew’

For Hall, the show's theme of a murdered loved one hits close to home

Talk show host, Tamron Hall’s newest show for Court TV, airs Sunday at 9 PM EST with 24 initial episodes. The show, ‘Someone They Knew’ features true crime stories of victims and their connection with their killers.

For Hall, ‌murder has a personal connection to her older sister Renate, who was found bludgeoned to death in 2004, at her Houston residence. No one was ever officially charged with the crime, which is now a cold case, although Hall believed her killer was someone her sister knew.

According to the Associated Press, Hall stated, “I felt as helpless as any other family that I’ve covered, and I’ve covered a lot of cases where families don’t get justice, where there are no charges.”

Hall has clarified that the focal point of the show is less about stranger danger and more about the people victims may hold most dear.

“People often associate crime with people in dark corners waiting to leap out,” Hall stated. “And it’s not always that. Sadly, it’s often friends, colleagues, loved ones. This is certainly not a show to make you afraid of what’s around you, but it is one that is thought-provoking when it comes to humanity and relationships.”

Her goal is that this show makes the victims seen as real people in the eyes of the viewers and to know that they can never enjoy their family and friends or life‌ ever again.
