Bad Bunny Learned He Was Headlining Super Bowl LX During a Gym Workout
Bad Bunny has officially been named the headliner for Super Bowl LX, marking another historic moment for the global Latin superstar.
The announcement dropped on Sunday (September 28) with a cinematic teaser.
In the clip, the 31-year-old is perched atop a football goalpost as the sun sets behind him, exuding pure superstar energy without lifting a finger. His Tainy-produced hit ‘Callaita’ plays in the background, signaling he’s ready to take center stage.
It won’t be his first time under the Super Bowl lights, as fans will remember his cameo during Shakira and Jennifer Lopez’s halftime show back in 2020.
How the Puerto Rican native discovered the opportunity: during a workout.
During an interview with Hot 97’s Ebro Darden and Zane Lowe, the “Un Verano Sin Ti” artist shared that Jay-Z, who produces the halftime show, gave him a call while he was in the gym.
“I was in the middle of a workout,” he began telling the hosts.
“I remember that after the call, I just did, like, 100 pull-ups. I didn't need more pre-workout shit... It was very special.”
The “Moscow Mule” also shared that he had dreamt about headlining in the past.
“Maybe in a few years I could be there.”
The actor and part-time pro wrestler tweeted in Spanish after the announcement, sharing how he had discussed this opportunity with his team and could do “one date” in the United States.
The global superstar has been intentional about where he performs, and told I-D Magazine this year that due to his fear of ICE “being outside his concert,” he’s chosen to skip touring and only tour outside the United States.
“There were many reasons why I didn’t show up in the US, and none of them were out of hate,” he told the outlet.
“People from the US could come here to see the show. Latinos and Puerto Ricans of the United States could also travel here, or to any part of the world. But there was the issue of—like, fucking ICE could be outside my concert. And it’s something that we were talking about and very concerned about.”
