Kyrie Irving Defends Karl-Anthony Towns From Social Media Trolling

On his Twitch live stream, Irving made it clear that he will no longer tolerate any more KAT slander.

Kyrie Irving has come to the defense of Karl-Anthony Towns, who has been the target of constant online trolling.

Taking to his Twitch account, Irving decided that enough was enough and stated that he stands in solidarity with the New York Knicks center.

“Y'all gotta stop making fun of my brother KAT. I'm done with y'all. Stop making fun of my brother, KAT. It's over for that, it's a f---ing wrap, I'm letting you know that if you repost that sh*t gain or meme him up, I'm attacking you,” Irving said. “Not physically, GTA (popular video game franchise 'Grand Theft Auto'), but I'm attacking you."

Irving then went on to say that he and Towns are both natives of New Jersey, and he deserves to be treated with respect because of all that he’s endured in his life.

“Y'all gotta leave KAT alone because y'all don't know what it's like to grow up in Jersey and have all of these cultures that you're a part of, trust me on that," the Dallas Mavericks point guard said. "Jersey is literally 130 miles long, it's a very, very small state … but leave him alone. Because he's Dominican, he's Black, he grew up in a certain area in Jersey, just like me, and you gotta survive out here.

While he admitted that Towns’ voice changes can be funny, the NBA champion put everyone on notice that he has KAT’s back.

"You've got many different demographics of people, so you gotta survive out here. I don't agree all the time when he be changing up his tone sometimes, I don't always agree and all that shit, that shit be funny, but on a serious note, he is a man, he is my brother and I protect him all the time."

Since the Knicks were dispatched by the Indiana Pacers in the Eastern Conference Finals, many have blamed Towns as one of the biggest reasons for the team’s exit. His name has already been mentioned in trade rumors as the Knicks attempt to win their first NBA championship since 1973.

As a result of the disappointing defeat, Tom Thibodeau was fired as head coach of the Knicks, having led them to their first Eastern Conference Finals in 25 years and back-to-back 50-win seasons.
