Marla Gibbs is serving a master class in aging with purpose.

The legendary actress shared a gym photo on Instagram and reminded her followers that movement and joy are still part of the plan. “At my age it’s easy to just lay in bed. Then I remember...as long as I’m breathing, I still have a chance to enjoy life. It’s Never Too Late!!!,” Gibbs wrote, nodding to her memoir “It’s Never Too Late.”

Gibbs has already survived plenty and still keeps showing up. People noted that Gibbs has lived through an emotionally abusive upbringing, a difficult marriage, and a life-threatening aneurysm and stroke in 2006. But none of that has stopped her from staying visible, working, and encouraging others to keep moving forward. 

Fans and fellow entertainers quickly flooded the comments with love. Terry Crews wrote, “LETS GOOOOO,” while Arsenio Hall chimed in, “You go gurl,” and Kelly Price added heart-eyes and fire emojis. 

"My story hasn't been easy, but it is a blessing,” Gibbs recently shared, She went on to say that she’s grateful to have been able to tell her story with the hope that “it informs and improves the lives of others. God has a plan and it's never too late to fulfill that purpose.” Gibbs has long been beloved for her roles on “The Jeffersons” and “227.” However, her latest post is especially moving because it comes from someone who has spent decades giving audiences comfort, laughter, and wisdom on screen, then kept doing it offscreen too. 

At 94, she is still modeling what it looks like to choose movement over stillness, gratitude over defeat, and purpose over age. In a culture that often acts like growing older means fading out, Marla Gibbs is showing that it can mean showing up even stronger.
