BET Awards 2021: Five Reasons Why 24KGoldn Is Blowing Up
When you pick a name like 24KGoldn, you better have the skills to back up the audacious confidence. Fortunately, after dropping his debut single “Valentino,” the 20 year-old singer proved he’s worth his weight in gold. He followed up with an eight-track EP, Dropped Outta College, which reached No.1 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart and stayed there for three weeks. 24K Goldn has already established himself as one of generation Z’s brightest lights.
Here are five reasons we rock with 24KGoldn:
We’re always in the mood for his hit “Mood.”
Teaming up with his gen-Z counterpart Iann Dior, 24KGoldn started off the summer of 2020 in a big way: his single “Mood” debuted in July, and went straight to No. 1. The song has since amassed more than 223 million views on YouTube, and it’s still getting play. It’s got one of those instant ear worm melodies and a message we can all relate to (real talk: who doesn’t have an irritable boo these days?).
Once he started going viral, no vaccine could stop him.
It seems like 24KGoldn went from unknown to superstar overnight. It wasn’t just the massive radio play, though. Kid knows how to work the cameras. Whether it’s an iPhone video of him making faces in bed or a fully produced music video for a new single, it seems like everything he does goes viral. He has more than 5.2 million followers on TikTok, and most of his posts get between 400K and 1 million views. Whatever that X factor is, 24KGold has it.
He’s a proud native of The Bay Area
There’s a short list of hip-hop royalty that came from The Bay Area: E-40, Mac Dre, Too Short, M.C. Hammer—and of course Tupac. But these days, there aren’t too many artists shouting out Oaktown. But 24kGoldn did more than just make it out—he is the first to go quadruple platinum: salute!

He’s an original
In an era packed with copycats, 24kGoldn has style and sound all his own. It only takes a few seconds for his instantly recognizable voice to announce its singular presence. In a time when originality is as rare as diamonds, 24kGoldn brings authenticity and effortless swag to the party.
His features? No small feat
They say you can judge a person by the company they keep. And look who has invited 24K Goldn to collaborate: some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop today: Da Baby, Future, Swae Lee and more. He’s in-demand as a guest performer and we can’t wait to hear what he does next.
