Rihanna’s Home Hit By Gunfire As Cops Recover AR-15-Style Weapon From Suspect’s Car
Rihanna and her family are safe after someone reportedly shot several rounds of gunfire at her Beverly Hills–area mansion, the Los Angeles Times reports.
On Sunday, March 8, around 1 p.m., investigators say Ivanna Ortiz, a 35-year-old woman from Florida, drove up in a white Tesla, parked the car, and allegedly fired multiple rounds at the property. Several bullets hit the gate, part of the home’s exterior, and at least one vehicle parked nearby.
While no injuries were reported, People shared that the singer was inside of her home when the incident took place. Law enforcement sources told the Times that roughly 7 to 10 shots were fired, and at least one round pierced a wall. Ortiz is being held on $10.2 million bail; it’s not clear what motivated her or whether drugs or alcohol were involved.
Rihanna reportedly lives at the home with partner A$AP Rocky and their three young children, sons RZA, 3½, Riot, 2½, and 6-month-old daughter Rocki.
As of Monday morning, the pop star has not publicly commented, and police have not said whether any family members were near the impact zone.
People reported that officers tracked the suspect’s Tesla several miles away and arrested her without incident; an AR-15-style weapon and shell casings were later recovered from the vehicle, according to LAPD spokespeople.
The suspect is being held on suspicion of firing into an inhabited dwelling while detectives work to piece together additional details.
This is a developing story.
