Quinta Brunson Wins ‘Writing in a Comedy Series’ Emmy for ‘Abbott Elementary’

The actress is also the creator of the popular ABC series.

Philadelphia native, Quinta Brunson, won her first career Emmy for “Writing in a Comedy Series” for her series Abbott Elementary on Monday night (Sept. 12).

The ABC series has garnered raving reviews over the last year and recently released the trailer for its second season.

In her speech, Brunson said, “I want to say thank you to ABC, Disney, Fox, and Warner Brothers. I need to say thank you to Justin and Patrick, my co-showrunners."

She also thanked Larry Wilmore, her parents and siblings.
