Mariah Carey and Keke Palmer together were nothing short of a great pop culture moment. The icon pulled up to “Baby, This Is Keke Palmer” and the two had a heart-to-heart about weddings, friendships in the music world, and even a possible beauty move.

Keke asked if Mariah would ever get married again, and the answer was peak diva honesty. “Go for 3, why not?” She reflected on her first marriage, too. “I did love my first wedding dress, and then I wore it in the ‘We Belong Together’ video. Did you know that? Yeah, it was good!”

There were reflections on the industry as well. Mariah noted how different things feel today, giving technology credit for helping new artists break through without a record deal. “It’s a totally different business than when I first started. I remember crying when I was 18 because I wanted a record deal… now you don’t even really need one.”

Carey also explained why now felt like the right time for a new album. She began the process of recording, stacking songs here and there, and the magic happened. 

“I would have like four new songs, which really isn’t even close enough for an album… I just knew I needed like 10 songs at least. And then I said this should be an album, let’s just do an album, and we did.” She crowned the title track her personal favorite: “To me it’s definitely the best song on the album,” she said.

And what’s next for the queen? She teased a move into beauty. “I’m thinking about putting something together that’s like some sort of cosmetics moment, but I gotta wait a little minute for that and then jump into it.”
