Tracee Ellis Ross Owns the Catwalk in Stunning Comeback at Milan Fashion Week
The actress and entrepreneur reminded everyone of her modeling roots.
Some things just come naturally—and for Tracee Ellis Ross, strutting down a runway is one of them.
More than three decades after making her mark as a model, the actress, entrepreneur, and style icon returned to the catwalk at Milan Fashion Week proving that confidence and grace never go out of style.
Walking for Marni's Fall/Winter 2025 Vol. 2 Collection, Ross commanded the runway in a bold satin yellow gown featuring a striking black-and-white lightning bolt design, furry cuffs, and a pleated skirt. Styled with multicolored heels, slicked-back hair, and a deep red lip, her presence was nothing short of electric.
The “black-ish” star documented her comeback moment on Instagram Stories, sharing behind-the-scenes clips of her runway prep and reflecting on her journey.
Posting a throwback of her younger self, she wrote, “Visibly reminding myself of little me. I love you little Tracee and I'm proud of you.”
The veteran Hollywood star later shared with Vogue that Marni’s creative director, Francesco Risso, personally selected her for the show, calling her a “wolf” and explaining that the collection celebrated “the strength of the pack, which we all need now.” That inspired Ross to channel a “foxy wolf” energy as she made her way down the catwalk.
Her return to the runway was a full-circle moment, as Ross last walked for a designer in the early '90s—most notably for Thierry Mugler in 1990 alongside her mother, Diana Ross, and again solo in 1991.
Looking back on that time, she wrote on Instagram, “I have to say… looking back, I’m amazed by my confidence the second time around… you betta werk, 19-year-old TER!”
While it had been more than 30 years since her last runway moment, Ross clarified that she hasn’t lost her touch. “It completely brings me back to my first love,” she said. “It was fun to rediscover my model legs.”
