Idris Elba Is Performing At Coachella, And Twitter Has Questions
The Coachella 2019 lineup was just announced and while many seemed to be left disappointed by the overall choices in headliners — especially given the epic masterpiece that was 2018's Beychella — all hope was apparently found when fans discovered that Hollywood heartthrob Idris Elba was actually on the bill.
Yep, you read that correctly. Idris Elba will be performing at Coachella this year!
The actor tweeted the now widely circulated lineup flyer, which indicates that he is scheduled to hit the stage on April 13 and April 20.
For those who only casually follow the actor on social media — or don't follow him at all — this news came as quite the shock.
However, many who are familiar with his work outside of film are already aware that the 46-year-old is also a professional DJ and music artist. In fact, before making it big in Hollywood, back in his younger days, dating back to the age of 19, he worked in nightclubs under the DJ moniker "Big Driis."
Also, this isn't a random hobby for Elba, as he has some pretty hefty and reputable accolades in music. Among them include co-production and performing credits on the intro to Jay-Z's 2007 album, American Gangster; releasing his own EP, High Class Problems Vol. 1, in 2014; producing K. Michelle's The Rebellious Soul Musical in November 2015; opening for Madonna during her Rebel Heart Tour in Berlin; and several others.
As expected, though, his fans and admirers are going insane over the news that he will be performing in the desert, later this year. See their reactions, below:
