ScarLip Is Removing the Scar That Inspired Her Name
ScarLip is turning the page on a painful chapter in her life.
The rising Bronx-born rapper recently announced that she would be removing the signature scar that gave her both her stage name and a deeply personal reminder of a traumatic past.
“Guys, I made a decision. I'm going to get my scar removed this week. I scheduled the appointment. I'm nervous, I'm scared,” she shared in a video posted around May 10. “But it’s time to go.”
Fans quickly chimed in—some urging her to rethink the decision, while others applauded the move and came to her defense.
One TikTok user wrote, “Y’all weird, she made the decision to remove it for HER reasons, she did not come on here to have the world convince her not to do what she intends to do. Just be happy for her that her confidence will skyrocket even more and let it be just that.”
In an interview last year, she opened up about the violent night that left her permanently scarred. After sneaking out to a football game, she returned home to find herself locked out by her family. When her brother confronted her, demanding money, the situation escalated—he punched her in the mouth, knocking her unconscious.
“Blood [was] squirting out of my mouth,” she remembered. The injury left her hospitalized and permanently scarred.
Over the years, she’s spoken candidly about the insecurity and bullying she endured because of her appearance. And while she hasn’t disclosed the exact procedure, Eppley Plastic Surgery says scar revision surgery is commonly used to minimize prominent facial scars.
ScarLip says she never received a genuine apology from her brother, but removing the scar is her way of reclaiming her image on her terms.
