How Kevin Séraphin Paid Tribute to Paris During Knicks Game
For New York Knicks center Kevin Séraphin, the Paris terrorist attacks hit close to home.
The NBA player, who moved to France from French Guiana when he was 15, showed solidarity with his countrymen by shaving the name of the capital and an image of the Eiffel Tower into his hair ahead of Sunday's game against New Orleans.
Séraphin, who grew up just outside of Paris, said he would sport the new style, "until it grows out to show his love and support." He also wrote #prayforparis on his sneakers, and his teammate Lou Amudson co-signed the sentiment, styling his own hair into a French braid.
The floor was lit up at Madison Square Garden, in the colors of the French flag. The French national anthem was played, and a moment of silence was held.
The Knicks bested the Pelicans, 95-87.
Sunday also marked the second day of national mourning for France. Local officials most recently announced that airstrikes were launched and two jihadi sites in Raqqah, Syria have been destroyed.
