Tina Turner Turns 80 Years Younger Today As Tributes For The Queen Of Rock 'n' Roll Pour In
Tributes are pouring in from around the globe as fans and artists alike sing their praises in honor of one of music’s most dearly beloved icons, the legendary Tina Turner.
As this Tuesday (November 26) marks her 80th birthday, the Queen of Rock 'n' Roll uploaded a specially recorded video message addressed to her fans in celebration of her milestone birthday that was published to her official Twitter account.
“Yes, I am 80,” Tina began, beaming with radiance. “How did I think I would be at 80? Not like this.”
“How is this?” she continued, laughing. “Well, I look great, I feel good, I’ve gone through some very serious sicknesses that I’m overcoming. So it’s like having a second chance at life. I’m happy to be an 80-year-old woman.”
A second clip that was shared to the social platform prior to her 80th birthday featured a montage of celebrities sending her their well wishes, including soul-R&B icon Bebe Winans, guitarist Nile Rodgers and the various casts of her Broadway show, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical.
Missy Elliott also took to Twitter to wish Ms. Turner happy birthday, from one icon to another
“We celebrate your 80th today! It’s so important for us to know our history in music because of artist[s] like [Tina Turner] who kicked down doors [and] left them open for artist[s] like myself [and] most of your favs. We [love] you, Tina,” Missy elegantly summarized the eight-time Grammy-winning Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Famer’s impact.
"I have loved you for a lifetime. You have paved the way and made it possible for another country girl to go after her dreams. I'm so grateful for you. I am blessed to have two Tina's showing me the way," the letter read, as Beyoncé ended her note wishing Ms. Turner a belated happy birthday "with every ounce of [her] love [and] admiration."
