Lamar Jackson Snubbed From Top 5 QB List By Several NFL Executives
Lamar Jackson is one of the most talented and accomplished quarterbacks in the National Football League. A winner of two league MVPs, Jackson had led the Baltimore Ravens to be one of the most formidable teams in the league. Although he has an impeccable resume a recent poll conducted by CBS Sports revealed that several NFL executives voted Jackson was not a top 5 quarterback.
Many have speculated that Jackon’s subpar playoff record is the main reason why some executives voted against his top 5 ranking, Cody Benjamin suggested.
“Consider the three quarterbacks officially ranked ahead of Jackson in ESPN's poll: [Patrick]Mahomes, [Josh] Allen and Joe Burrow. Mahomes is an anomaly, of course, with three Super Bowl rings and another two Super Bowl appearances,” Benjamin wrote. “But Allen and Burrow are also more accomplished than Jackson in the big-game department.”
Last season, Jackson threw for 4,172 yards, 41 touchdowns, and only 4 interceptions, while also rushing for 915 yards and 4 touchdowns. Also, his 41-4 touchdown-to-interception ratio made him the first player in NFL history to achieve this feat with 40+ passing touchdowns.
But in the playoffs, Jackson has three playoff wins and one conference championship appearance.
According to Benjamin, it will be just a matter of time before Jackson leads the Ravens to an impressive playoff that silences his doubters once and for all.
In our eyes, he's one of just six "transcendent talents" at the position -- unteachably capable of championship-level stuff. It still feels like it's a matter of when, not if, he'll help get the Ravens back over the hump, and he's often the single biggest reason John Harbaugh oversees a perennial contender,” Benjamin argued.
Without a question, Jack will be on a revenge tour this season with hopes of taking the Ravens to the Super Bowl and proving his critics wrong.
