16-Year-Old Girl Stabbed To Death By Classmate With A Steak Knife Over A Boy
A 16-year-old Michigan girl was stabbed to death with a steak knife following a dispute over a boy, said police.
On Wednesday, Danyna Gibson was sitting in her second class of the day at Warren Fitzgerald High School, when she was stabbed twice, reported WDIV.
Her 17-year-old classmate is in custody.
Orion Taylor, 17, was in the economics class when there was loud commotion.
"Part of me believe she was stabbed before we saw her get stabbed," Taylor told the local news station. "When she was in the back of the classroom because there was a blood trail, blood on the floor."
Although the stabbing happened quickly, the teachers, say the students, acted quickly to prevent any further injuries.
"At the time the teacher was getting the knife out of the girl's hands so she would harm nobody else," Taylor said. "We've got to thank God for her because she really played a role in this one. She played her role as she did the right thing."
By time the school security officer arrived and began performing CPR, Gibson was lifeless.
Gibson, a highly regarded and beloved student, was elected to student council, was prominent on the robotics team and was part of the National Honor Society.
The student who killed Gibson will be charged with murder.
