Fat Joe Wants To Make The BET Hip Hop Awards The ‘Greatest Show Ever Made’

The rapper is set to host the ceremony on Tuesday, October 4.

Yesterday’s price continues to rise in value as Fat Joe can now add “award show host” to his resume as he’s set to host the BET Hip Hop Awards 2022 on Tuesday, October 4.

The Terror Squad leader is not new to controlling a stage as a performer but also showed us how he can control conversations as an on-air host with his own IG talk show series, The Fat Joe Show, chatting with media figures from Ashanti, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, Diddy, Floyd Mayweather, Jamie Foxx, Mike Tyson, Snoop Dogg, and many more.

The rapper is set to hold down a two-hour live show and is already “excited” to show the uniqueness he will bring as we watch Hip Hop’s hottest artists take center stage.

When asked if this was a lane he wanted to pivot into after starting his IG show, the “Lean Back” musician confirmed he began the series “out of fear.”

“COVID was out, and a lot of my friends were dying, so I knew my fans wanted to hear some words of encouragement,” he states.

“At the same time, I was going through it, and I was scared for my life. I stood in the house for a year and four months straight. My daughter [Azariah], 14 years old at the time, mentioned I should go on [Instagram] live — I had never been on live before. After going on live the first time, people were popping in so we did the next day again, and a lot of people started popping in like Michelle [Obama], Floyd [Mayweather], Mike [Tyson], and many others. Every day after that, i started telling myself to make this a show which we did on weekdays at 7:00 PM ET. What started as having different artists come on the platform to share information and knowledge, it grew into what you see today.”

The Bronx native continued, sharing how he’s “honored” to host the ceremony and how he’s been “waiting for a moment” like this his entire life.

The 52-year-old has some tricks up his sleeve regarding his hosting duties, saying he hopes the show will be the “greatest show ever made.”

“If they give out the award for best host of all-time for the Hip Hop Awards, I want to receive that,” he says.

“I want to bring the energy, and culture and engage the audience. I want to talk to everybody around the world.”

You don’t have to wait long as Joe is set to host the BET Hip Hop Awards 2022 on Tuesday, October 4th at 9/8c.
