Living In The Spotlight Featuring Tank
Get To Know: Tank
Durrell Babbs, better known by his stage name Tank, is an American R&B singer-songwriter and producer. Tank was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and moved with his family as a child to Washington, D.C.. He was a multisport athlete at Crossland High School and was offered the opportunity to play college football. However, later in life, Tank decided to focus more on his music. On January 16, 2017, Tank got engaged to his long time girlfriend, Zena Foster. They've been together since 2005 and share two children, Zion and Zoey. Tank is also the father of three more children from previous relationships: Jordan, Ryen and Durrell Jr.
Making It To the Spotlight
Although Tank was a jock in college, his interest began to steer toward music at a young age. At his church, a choir director by the name of Alphonzo Jiles taught Tank proper singing techniques. Eventually, Tank chose his music career over football. Through hard work and determination, he landed the job as Ginuwine's backup singer and continued to tour with him while learning the ins and outs of the industry. His star quality was later noticed by Barry Hankerson, an American record producer and manager who founded and ran Blackground Records. He was immediately signed to Hankerson's label and the rest was history!

Exclusive Info
In an exclusive music meeting with BET, Tank told staff that his meaning behind the album Savage was opposite of what people see it as. Being "savage" to him means that single mother that works three jobs and comes home to cook, that father that stays on the grind and that student that works full time and is still working hard for a degree, that's "savage."
