Ray J was just outside of Whitney Houston's Beverly Hills Hilton hotel room when Det. Sgt. Terry Nuttall allegedly made inappropriate remarks about Whitney Houston at the scene of her death, and he may have heard them, reports TMZ.

Sources "familiar with the situation" [TMZ's words] told the site that the singer, who had a close relationship with Houston, heard a "disrespectful comment" and laughter and was so upset by it that he had to be restrained.

The site's law enforcement sources, however, say that no such comments were made.

Meanwhile, the L.A. Times has posted a claim filed by Sgt. Brian Weir, which states that he was on duty at the scene and witnessed and reported the misconduct.
