Why Jay-Z Joined, Then Quickly Deleted, Instagram

He leaves only a day after joining the popular social media platform.

The newly minted Hall of Fame Hov has seemingly decided to log off of Instagram after only spending 24-hours on the popular social media platform.

Jay-Z, 51, promptly deleted his profile on Instagram after quickly amassing over 2 million followers, leaving fans shocked but unsurprised.

In fact, six years ago, the Jigga Man had joined the service to wish the iconic Michael Jackson a happy birthday, and was on there for a grand total of 90-minutes.

One could sum up his time on IG as a “he came, he saw, and he left” phrase that would’ve added his mega-famous name to a growing list of other celebrities who are launching Instagram accounts. But it seems that the Brooklyn hip hop icon will continue to avoid social media at all costs.

His since-gone first post, which he shared on both his feed and his IG Story, was in promotion of the recently released flick, The Harder They Fall, which he produced. At the time, he had only followed his wife, Beyoncé, who in return followed him and reposted his countdown to her own IG Story.

Now that the action-adventure Western is out, it seems that Jay has moved onto other projects that don’t require him to boast about it online.

“I just love to be a part of a project that widens the lens,” he told Entertainment Tonight’s Kevin Frazier at the film’s Los Angeles premiere. “Once it’s widened for us, then it’s widened for Asians, for Mexicans, for everyone.”

The Harder They Fall was originally released to theaters on Oct. 22, and is currently streaming on Netflix.
