Report: R. Kelly Accused Of Infecting Underage Detroit Girl With Herpes

The allegations have reportedly sparked an investigation by Detroit law enforcement.

According to CBS Chicago, R. Kelly is facing yet another sexual abuse allegation after a woman claims that he infected her with herpes at the age of 17 following the start of their sexual relationship when she was only 13 years old. The allegation has now reportedly escalated to a full investigation, which CBS 2 investigator Brad Edwards reports is being handled by Detroit detectives.

  • The unnamed victim claimed that their first act of sexual intercourse happened in December 2001, reports CBS Chicago

At the time, she was reportedly visiting her mom when she ran into a friend who happened to be Kelly’s assistant. It’s not clear how she first made contact with the R&B singer, but the site continues that she had sex with him at “an undisclosed hotel” in Detroit and again weeks later at a studio in the city. Afterward, sources report of her claims, the relationship continued for four years up until she was 17 years old—the age that she was allegedly infected with herpes from Kelly.

  • Detroit Police Chief James Craig reportedly is insistent on speaking with the now 30-year-old woman

“We are eagerly waiting to speak to the alleged victim,” Edwards reports of his statement. CBS Chicago added that though she no longer lives in Michigan, detectives will fly her out for an interview.

Kelly’s legal team has not yet responded to reports of the newly surfaced allegation.
