Herschel Walker Blames ‘The Left’ For His Conservative Son Attacking Him
Herschel Walker, who is attempting to unseat Senator Raphael Warnock in the Georgia U.S. Senate race, is speaking out after his son Christian Walker blasted him for being a liar.
In an interview with Fox News, the former NFL player blamed “the left” for his son’s attacks, "Well, the damage he's doing is letting people know that the left will do whatever they can to win this seat. And I told you when I got into this race, I'm going to win this seat. People see someone sitting in front of you right now who has been redeemed. I'm living proof that you can make mistakes and get up and keep going forward."
He continued, "Vote for the people on the left like the guy I'm running against, Sen. Warnock, you're not going to have a chance to be redeemed. He's a minister and he don't [sic] believe in redemption. Right now, they're trying to destroy America. They're trying to destroy Georgia."
It’s unclear how “the left” is to blame for his son, who identifies as a conservative and frequently attacks liberals.
Earlier his week, an exclusive from The Daily Beast reported that Walker paid for an abortion in 2009, which does not appear to be in line with his politics. The Georgia Senate candidate has said he supports abortion bans without any exceptions for rape, incest or the health of the mother. He has also called for a federal ban on abortion.
Walker denied paying for an abortion and has threatened to sue The Daily Beast.
Shortly after the story broke, Christian Walker wrote in a tweet, “I know my mom and I would really appreciate if my father Herschel Walker stopped lying and making a mockery of us. You’re not a “family man” when you left us to bang a bunch of women, threatened to kill us, and had us move over 6 times in 6 months running from your violence.”
On Oct. 4, the 23-year-old posted a four-minute video blasting his father even further.
“I stayed silent as the atrocities against my mother were downplayed,” he said. “I stayed silent when it came out that my father Herschel Walker had all these random kids across the country, none of whom he raised. And you know my favorite issue to talk about is father absence. Surprise! Because it affected me.”
He also said his father was a liar and railed against conservatives questioning his “authenticity.”
